DJ - Producer

Lapo Underground

Background

Lapo Underground was born on August 19, 2001, in Sant’Omero, Abruzzo. He began his musical journey at the age of five, developing a deep passion for the piano, which led him to study at the Conservatory of Milan. His interest in black music and culture grew profoundly as he honed his skills through the exploration of Jazz and Soul. In 2014, at the age of 13, Lapo discovered electronic music. From the Future House tracks dominating the radio to the deeply rooted Underground House sounds of artists like Marc Cotterell and T. Williams, he felt a profound sense of expressive freedom, an emotion that even the 88 keys of the piano had never conveyed. It was at that moment that he began his journey as a DJ, becoming a resident in the House and Techno room at Gate club in Milan in 2017, where he performed for three years. With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Lapo immersed himself in music production. After completing his school studies in 2020, he enrolled at IED Milan with the goal of mastering the technicalities and the aesthetic and artistic aspects of music. In 2024, he graduated in Sound Design. During these years in the electronic music scene, in addition to performing at the best Milanese clubs and more (Plastic, Rocket Club, Club44, Spazio Diaz, Republic), Lapo began collaborating alongside Leon, one of the most renowned DJs in the Italian house scene. His ability to integrate different sounds, due to his years of studying and listening to music, allowed Lapo to earn recognition from both new and established producers. This brought him even closer to the roots of House music, particularly the Chicago scene, with a significant influence from his greatest mentor, Chez Damier. Chez Damier was not only a musical guide but also played an important role in helping Lapo cultivate his values. This bond, reinforced by Chez’s advice and presence, strengthened Lapo’s awareness of his artistic mission and his need to be authentic, connected to his values, and to respect others and love being together.
